SPM has participated in the "Good Environmental Governance" project

On Monday, June the 23rd, 2008, Mr. Taweedej Pitichaichan, President of SPM together with the commitees of the Good Environment Governance� project,have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the participation in the project

The event was held at the Grand Ballroom, The Miracle Grand Convention Center, presiding the event by an adviser to the Industrial Minister, Mr. Sorayud Petchtrakul. The Good Governance for the Environment is part of main project organized by the Ministry of Industry with a vision that the new industry is not only supporting the Thai economy but also the environment. The Memorandum was signed by 105 participating companies from 11 provinces and during the signing ceremony 16 flags representing a good governance for the environment has been handed to different offices. All participating companies will need to be compliant to 7 criteria written by the Ministry of Industry which will lead to a development of sustainability, dependence, conflict-free and a disclosure of necessary information to people in the surrounding community. The evaluation will be done by the Ministry of Industry. If a company meets the satisfaction of the criterias, it will be awarded with a certificate and flag representing the Good Governance. The Objective of the project is to have at least 450 factories from 50 provinces joining the project and believe to extend the success story of the project through out the country. It expects to receive cooperation from the Ministry of Industry, Local Authority, the community and participating companies. The 7 criteria are:

� 4. Social Responsibility

� 5. Law

� 6. Justice

� 7. Sustainability
